Hello!
My name is Afia Amoako and I am the creator and curator of this blog. I started this blog five years ago as I started my vegan journey. As a new vegan, I had many questions about what I was going to eat and most importantly how I could maintain my culture and still live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle
Thus, as I started getting answers for my many questions, I decided to put it all together into a blog to hopefully inspire people and show people that it is possible to live an ethical, plant-based lifestyle without losing your culture.
In this blog, you will find tasty recipes that are easy, and cheap and pay homage to my Ghanaian roots. In addition to food, I share tips about living a healthy lifestyle and share more on my Ghanaian identity as well as some tasty eats from around the African content. The point is to make food from the African continent accessible to many. Food, books, and self-care are important to me and are components I believe are important to living a healthy lifestyle
If I am not blogging about food, I am a full-time PhD student in Epidemiology
If you are curious about my cultural background and the reason I chose The Canadian African, you can check out this post.
Make sure to subscribe to my blog to keep up to date with my posts and follow me on Instagram @eatwithafia

Much Love
Afia 🙂
