This post is a compilation of vegan-friendly Ghanaian soups you can pair with your favourite swallow or grain. As I provide more recipes, I will be including them into this compilation.
Vegan Ghanaian Palm Nut Soup
Palm Nut Soup is by far one of my favourite soups. It is rich, creamy absolutely delicious and Pairs well with fufu or rice balls.
Vegan Groundnut Soup (Ghanaian)
Another crowd favourite. It was my first vegan-friendly soup and by far a popular soup. Can be paired with rice balls
Vegan Egusi Soup (Nigerian)
Egusi Soup is a popular Nigerian Soup (even though it looks like stew) packed with heat, spice and flavour. This is one of my most popular Instagram videos for a very good reason.
Vegan NkantiKonto (Green Peanut Soup)
This delicious soup combines groundnut soup with a traditional taro leaf soup popular in Ghana called ebunu ebunu. This particular rendition is packed with flavour and high in iron.
Vegan Sauce Gnangnan (Ivorian)
This is a super delicious soup hailing from Ivory Coast. The bitter flavour of the soup with the Foutou is a perfect balance of flavour.
Vegan Okra Stew (Ghanaian Style)
This soup displays indigenous African ingredients and flavours very well. It is usually paired with banku (a fermented corn swallow in Ghana) but honestly could be eaten with rice or any grain (not a popular choice but a delicious one)
Vegan Ghanaian Wrewre (Melon Seed Soup)
This is a one-of-a-kind soup; a soup for special occasions, and one that is filled with flavour. This wrewre soup gets its flavour from the roasted melon seeds, which are nutty, fragrant and slightly sweet. You can enjoy this soup with fufu, kokonte or any grain of choice.
Vegan One Pot Ayoyo Soup
This delicious soup is a quick way of making a Northern-Ghana style soup with jute mallow leaves. it is flavoured with ingredients common in Northern-Ghanaian cuisine. This dish is enjoyed with tuo zaafi.
Vegan Ademe Detsi (Ghanaian + Togo)
Yet another jute mallow and okra soup hailing from the eastern part of Ghana and Togo. This soup is quick and packed with flavour and a ton of nutrients.
